When the apprentice has reached the required level, they are entered into the phase known as 'gateway' for their End-Point-Assessments (EPA) undertaken with an independent Assessment Organisation. For further details please see the explanation overleaf.

Assessment - IconEnd-Point-Assessment

The apprentice will be assessed to the apprenticeship standard using three complementary assessment methods. The assessment is synoptic, i.e. takes a view of the overall performance of the apprentice in their job. The assessment activities will be completed by the independent end assessor as follows:

A knowledge test
60-minute multiple-choice test consisting of 50 questions to be completed online

A portfolio-based interview
A 30-45 minute interview

Project presentation
Using the learner's portfolio to provide a structure for the conversation project presentation, The portfolio must be a minimum of 8-12 pages and will include a practical observation and/or evaluation by the employer, such as acknowledgement of a skill shown or evidencing work completed on a particular project with the manager's comments, which is then discussed in the interview.

Completion
The independent end assessor confirms that each assessment element has been completed. The overall grade is determined by the independent end assessor based on the combination of performance in all assessment activities. All End-Point-Assessment methods must be passed for the End-Point-Assessment to be passed overall. The overall pass mark is 60% and a distinction can be awarded for higher levels of attainment of 80% and over.
